Here you find important information on the Torres del Paine National Park! Torres del Paine is by far the most famous Chilean National Park. The best-known and most spectacular summits - the three Towers of Paine (Spanish: Torres del Paine) gave the park its name. They are gigantic granite monoliths and are clearly the parks unique landmark. Founded in 1959, the Torres del Paine National Park was declared a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO twenty years later. Its breathtaking landscape characterized by mountains, glaciers, fjords and lakes stretches over an area of 2,400 km², about 150 km south of Puerto Natales. Guanakos (type of camelid), ñandus, pumas, condors and many exotic plants like orchids, firebush and guindos (Magellan beech tree) call the turquoise lakes, long ice fields and massive mountain chains their home. It is this specious flora and fauna and the varied natural scenery that attract more and more tourists to come to Torres del Paine each year. The National Park is a hikers, climbers and nature-lovers paradise at the same time. Arrival From Puerto Natales you can take the bus directly to the Torres del Paine National Park, travel time 2 to 3 hours. Several bus companies (i.e. Gomez, Buses JB, Via Paine/Andescape) offer transportation to and from the National Park.
